Stable Cottage

Cottage in Mid Cornwall, sleeps maximum of 6 people

These cottages were converted from an old coach house and are idyllically situated in the tranquil grounds of Stewarts House; the views are delightful over rolling hills towards Bude Bay - at night the lights of Bude and the bay can be seen in the distance.

Both cottages share a pretty Victorian walled garden facing east for the morning sun and to the west, a spacious patio equipped with chairs and tables for dining al fresco - a perfect place for the afternoon sun and enjoying barbecues.

The village of Week St Mary is a pleasant short stroll away; the village square has a post office stores and ancient church; the Green Man public house with a lively programme of weekly music and good food welcomes children; and there is a children's playground with a tennis/basket ball court also locally.

There are beautiful beaches and coastline of Widemouth and Bude - famous for surfing - historic Launceston with its ancient castle and steam railway; King Arthur's Tintagel; Boscastle and the delightful Clovelly.

Gwylan House

Cottage in West Cornwall, sleeps maximum of 5 people

Gwylan House enjoys glorious sea views across Mousehole harbour to St Michael’s Mount and the Lizard peninsula. Old Standard Cottage is just three doors away around the corner. Both these listed cottages are located only a few yards from the water's edge at the heart of the former fishing village of Mousehole, three miles west of Penzance. Today this quiet, ancient harbour shelters 2 sandy beaches which are perfect for children. Gwylan House has a fully enclosed garden with sea views. Old Standard Cottage has a fully enclosed small back yard. The back doors of both properties lead into a common “secret passage” and rear exit – ideal for sandy feet.

In 1595 the Spanish attacked Mousehole (pronounced Mowzel), then the leading town in the area. The only property to survive was the manor house of the Keigwin family. Old Standard Cottage, built of solid granite, is thought to be part of that manor.

Both properties are now comfortable holiday homes equipped to a high standard, including telephone and wifi broadband access in Gwylan House. Please note that the steep stairs and steps which add to the character of Gwylan House make this property unsuitable for very young children or anyone with mobility problems.

Mousehole has retained its unspoilt character as a Cornish fishing village, although the fishing fleet is now based at Newlyn. Beaches, shops, galleries, post office, restaurants and traditional pubs with good food are all within easy walking distance. Sea fishing trips and pleasure cruises are available from Penzance. Two golf courses are within easy reach.
