Then unpack the swimming gear and head for the Manor, where you can pick up your optional club membership cards (£55.00 fee for a family of 4) this entitles you to use of the indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, jacuzzi, sauna, squash, bowls, badminton, evening entertainment, bars restaurants and daily children’s entertainment throughout the summer months.

The two bedroomed chalet is compact and well fitted. Relax on either settee and enjoy the extensive views to the coast near Coombe valley and Duckpool beach 2.5 miles or Bude beach with the surfing schools is 6 miles. The family with children of all ages will love the freedom of the site and the use of the amenities, particularly on a wet day.

Local attractions and places of interest include the golden sands at Sandymouth (2.5 miles), Clovelly, which is 10 miles up the A39 or King Arthur's Castle at Tintagel 30 to 40 minute drive up the A39, Bude canal, Launceston with its castle and steam railway and many more.

Tamar Lake for trout fishing is a 15 minute drive. A 40 minute drive to the camel trail brochure available on request.

There are excellent walks, swimming, surfing, shore, boat and fly fishing. There is an 18 hole golf course about 3 miles away. A wind surfing school and riding stables are in the area. Pleasure flights and even flying lessons are available at Land's End aerodrome. You can visit the famous Minack Theatre at Porthcurno. There are a number of restaurants locally.

Standing on its own in the ancient and beautiful Penwith landscape, Chy Barnett has sea views from all its main rooms. Inside the house, built in 1885, the original wood floors and wood panelling have been kept, together with the pretty tiled fireplaces.

The accommodation is spacious and comfortable with three double occupancy bedrooms and one single, dining room with multi fuel stove, sitting room, large kitchen and conservatory which provides breathtaking views of gorgeous sunsets. Oil central heating is included in the rent.

The garden is mostly hydrangea and membretia, but there is plenty of grass on which to set out the garden chairs and where children can play. About 300 yards along the track and a scramble over fairly low rocks brings you to a lovely sandy cove with good swimming at low tide.

Situated in central Cornwall, it makes an ideal base for exploring the county. For sun-bathing, surfing and sailing, the string of white sand beaches along the rugged north coast are a must: Polzeath, Padstow, Rock, Trevone and Constantine etc 10-15 miles away. Travel the same distance in the opposite direction and you find the quaint fishing ports of the gentle south coast: Fowey, Looe, Polperro, Polruan and Mevagissey are all within easy striking distance.

Set yourself up for the day with a pre-breakfast stroll down to the harbour where you might see the fishing boats setting out. After breakfast, you'll be heading for the coast path or the beach, either nearby Port Gaverne or, perhaps, Polzeath, (5 miles away) one of the finest, safest surfing beaches on the North Cornish coast. And there are fishing trips, riding, and golf at the famous St Enedoc course, all close by.
