The nearby market town of Ormskirk, which has a twice weekly street market, is only 4 miles away.

Many original features have been preserved in the development of the cottages and they share a large garden with a play area for children and barbecue facilities.

For the wildlife enthusiast, there is the Wildfowl amd Wetlands Centre at Martin Mere (2 miles) and for the sportsman, there is golf, fishing, windsurfing, squash, badminton, and swimming, all available locally.
